Specialized care

Specialized care is for people whose support needs to be shaped closely around them: individuals with developmental disabilities, and people living with dementia or nearing the end of life. We help them live at home with comfort, dignity and as much independence as possible.

How specialized care helps

Every person we support is different. We take time to learn how someone communicates, what a good day looks like for them, and the routines that help them feel settled. Support is then shaped around that person, not the other way round.

For individuals with developmental disabilities, that can mean help with daily living skills, staying active and connected in the community, and keeping a steady routine at home. For someone living with dementia, it can mean familiar faces, a calm pace and gentle reminders through the day. Near the end of life, it means comfort, companionship and help with personal care, alongside the person’s hospice or medical team.

Families who provide much of the care themselves also deserve support. A trusted caregiver can give parents, partners and relatives time to rest, work, or simply be together. We work with families, guardians, support coordinators and other providers so everyone is pulling in the same direction.

What specialized care can include

  • Support with daily living skills and personal care
  • Help keeping consistent, familiar routines at home
  • Support taking part in community activities
  • Patient support and reminders for people living with dementia
  • Comfort, companionship and personal care near the end of life
  • Time for family caregivers to rest
  • Working with families, guardians, support coordinators and hospice teams

Every plan is different. We’ll talk through exactly what support is right before care begins.

Specialized care may be a good fit if

  • A person with a developmental disability wants more independence at home
  • A support coordinator is arranging waiver services in Central Ohio
  • A loved one living with dementia needs patient, consistent support
  • A family wants extra help and company for someone nearing the end of life

Two kinds of specialized care

Specialized care brings together two areas where consistency, patience and a personal approach matter most.

  • Developmental disabilities

Individual support for people with developmental disabilities, built around their routines, goals and community, including services funded through Ohio’s DODD waivers.

    • Daily living skills and personal care
    • Consistent routines at home
    • Community activities and personal goals
    • Supported Living, Homemaker / Personal Care and transportation
  • Dementia and end-of-life care

Patient, gentle care for people living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, and comfort-focused support for people nearing the end of life and the families around them.

    • Familiar caregivers and a calm, steady routine
    • Gentle reminders and help staying safe at home
    • Comfort, companionship and personal care
    • Working alongside hospice and medical teams

DODD waiver services

We provide services funded through Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) waivers. Services are based on assessed needs, person-centered planning and the individual’s approved service plan, and are delivered in the least restrictive setting that works for the person.
